Our client was in her 90’s when a company was asked to come a fit a new mattress for her bed which was adapted for her medical needs. Unfortunately, the company did not fit the mattress correctly meaning that when the Claimant used the controls to adjust her bed, it slipped and caused her to fall to the floor and suffer injury.

With the assistance of our client’s family and her carers we established contact with her and in a sensitive manner. We assured ourselves that she had competency to bring the claim and that she was the person who wanted to pursue the matter. With assistance from the family and carers, we liaised and arranged a home visit from an appropriate medical expert.

We secured a prompt admission of liability and the whole matter was resolved in 9 months and with compensation secured of just under £10,000.
