Our client suffered a traumatic injury to her fingers following them being trapped in door that slammed on her hand during the course of her employment. What might have appeared to others of this being a case of our client being the ‘author of her own misfortune’ resulted in a successful settlement. We took the time to understand the particular nature of our client’s employment to understand why she felt compelled to try and stop the door slamming. Our investigations showed that there had been a series of informal complaints about the door, and the closing mechanism was changed after the accident.

Liability was denied and court proceedings were needed. We took a detailed witness statement from our client, following telephone interviews, to create a detailed account of the facts and to present the most compelling account. Shortly following exchange of witness statements we received an offer to settle the claim for several thousand pounds and the matter concluded without the need for a trial.

I was worried about seeking compensation from my employers, but Clarity took the time to understand that the door involved was a known problem with an aggressive closing mechanism. As such, they were able to successfully secure a settlement for me.
